The Andor season 2 release date was on April 22, 2025, on Disney Plus.

Instead of weekly episodes, however, Disney Plus dropped three episodes of Andor season 2 every week on Tuesday (Wednesday in the UK), so the full season was available to stream in less than a month.

A new Andor season 2 trailer dropped on March 24, 2025, and it's glorious. Along with giving us a fresh look at Cassian Andor himself, along with Luthen Rael, Bix Caleen, Saw Gerrera, and Mon Mothma, the teaser also included talk of the Death Star.

There were a long list of names for Andor season 2. Obviously, Diego Luna was back as Cassian Andor. We couldn't take things for granted, given the time jumps, but all of the main leads and secondary characters were back as well.

While some characters, such as Fiona Shaw's Maarva and Andy Serkis' Kino Loy, were not back for season 2, there was an extended focus on other peripheral characters. Brasso (Joplin Sibtain), Saw Gerrera (Forest Whittaker), Sergeant Mosk (Alex Ferns), and Perrin (Alastair Mackenzie) all fall under that category.

Below is the full Andor season 2 cast list:

  • Diego Luna as Cassian Andor
  • Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma
  • Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael
  • Denise Gough as Dedra Meero
  • Kyle Soller as Syril Karn
  • Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen
  • Faye Marsay as Vel Sartha
  • Varada Sethu as Cinta Kaz
  • Elizabeth Dulau as Kleya Marki
  • Forrest Whittaker as Saw Gerrera
  • Joplin Sibtain as Brasso
  • Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic
  • Théo Costa Marini as Dilan
  • Alaïs Lawson as Enza Rylanz
  • Alan Tudyk as K-2SO

Andor season 2 first reactions and reviews

The first reactions for Andor season 2 appeared during Star Wars Celebration 2025. Needless to say, they were glowing.

GamesRadar's Fay Watson called the season a "triumph" for Tony Gilroy: "He has essentially made four, epic films that deepen Cassian's story in a hugely emotional way."

Germain Lussier of io9 and Gizmodo was similarly impressed: "It’s smart, sophisticated, propulsive, entertaining and hugely resonant." Host and producer Brandon Davis called the season, "relentlessly gripping, tremendously emotional, tragic, inspiring thing of beauty."

Reviews were similarly positive, and the show is now the highest-rated live-action Star Wars project on Rotten Tomatoes. Our own Andor season 2 review verdict reads: "Andor season 2 is just as excellent as its predecessor, and at times it even surpasses it. The unique structure builds forward momentum towards a pivotal disaster in Star Wars history, while the shadow of the Death Star looms large in a poignant and thrilling story that will change the way you watch Rogue One."

Andor season 2 plot

The Andor season 2 plot covered a lot. The first block of episodes saw Cassian steal a TIE fighter and get stranded on Yavin 4, before returning to the farming planet of Mina Rau to save his friends from Imperial inspection. Brasso, though, was sadly killed by stormtroopers.

Then, in the next block of three episodes, the groundwork was laid for the Ghorman Massacre as we saw the beginnings of a resistance sprout on the planet, which fed into the Empire's plan to eventually strip it of its resources in a mining plan that would destabilize the entire planet. Cinta was also killed by friendly fire from the Ghorman rebels.

The next three episodes saw the Ghorman Massacre play out to chilling and stomach-turning effect. Many innocent civilians were killed, and Mon Mothma denounced the atrocity and the Emperor in a rousing Senate speech. Cassian also met K-2SO on Ghorman.

Finally, in the last three episodes, Dedra finally caught up to Luthen, but it was too late. He already had top secret intel on the Death Star thanks to his ISB spy Lonni. He passed this to Kleya before stabbing himself to avoid interrogation, and Kleya eventually (and tragically) finished the job by unplugging him from his life-support in hospital. Then, Cassian, K-2, and Melshi saved Kleya from Coruscant and took her to Yavin 4, though none of the Rebellion believed her about the Death Star. The Andor season 2 ending then led directly into Rogue One.
